Car seat update…
I just thought I should update this issue…
Khéna is now 36 pounds and there is no seat that has been tested for his weight.. I went on the Car-seat forums… the place that will make you feel like dirt if you don’t keep your child RF until they are past the limits and will help you find any solution that will keep a child RF for the longest possible and really there is nothing to be done for now… so 2 weeks ago, with a very heavy heart I switched Khéna from RF in the Sunshine kids Radian (which is one of the strongest seats out there at the moment) to FF in the Evenflo Triumph which is just more comfortable and will be good for FF until he hits 40 pounds or outgrows it height wise.
So here is what they all look like now… (Colin and Xavier are in 5 point harnesses in the Radians)

Hallow’een was great this year…
Simon took the day off and we did stuff around the house and got the kids ready slowly… around lunch time I asked Colin if he would like me to cut his hair… he said yes so I ran with it… and I am pretty happy at the way that it turned out…
After lunch we got ready and left here at about 3:30 and headed to my friend’s house in Montreal… Traffic was crazy and we got to her house at about 5:30 instead of the planned 4:30… it started getting dark soon after the boys were antsy to get out and ToT… So we got them ready and put Khéna on Simon’s back and they headed out the door….
So the boys all went out and I stayed with Gen and a friend of hers and we answered the doorbell and ate a great supper that Gen made (black bean soup, stuffed squash and apple-plum crisp) and just talked… the boys came back with their load, ate a bit and then Xavier wanted to go out again with Eric (Gen’s boyfriend) So hey went out and then came back about 20 min later and then we headed home…
I had brought Gen her skirt which she tried on and fit great! and she gave me the things that I ordered from the co-op and scholastic… so we came back with a few boxes.. I love the books that we got!!

I bought that toy for a dollar at a thrift store 5 years ago and it has helped all three boys start walking…

I sewed the Capes and the swords and Sheild…
and Colin hasn’t decided what he wants to be yet…
ok… and I know that I am sharing tons of
pics… but I have to share these two also…
I just got back..
Just got home from the hospital and having left the boys with a babysitter for the first time…
The babysitting part went really well… I really like her and the kids had fun with her too….
I had asked how much she charges and she wanted 3$ an hour…. for both kids!!
I gave her 5$ an hour… I think that makes more sense…. and I think that I am going to enjoy having her around… I think that I might even ask her to come over one weekend soon and have her take the kids to the park or something so that we can get some deep cleaning and decluttering done…
As for the blood test… poor Khéna…
they couldn’t find a vein at all… and finally the nurse thought that she felt something after looking for about 5 min on both arms and hand… and then went in and searched… and then she hit a vein… she said that it was not because she was good… but it was by pure luck… they took 4 vials… The results will be sent to the Ped. here and then he will send them to the endocronologist in Montreal…
New bed…
Khéna outgrew the Amby and has been in our bed full time for a few weeks.. or really months now…
So we decided to put the Amby away and put a mattress on the floor in the boys room and make Khéna’s bed there… I have been starting him out in there most nights and we go get him when he wakes up…
and just for fun… here is a pic of him asleep in the couch…

Filed under Photos, The Boys | Comments (2)food colouring…
It has been almost a year since we decided to stop eating foods that have colouring. Our original reason was upon knowing that food colourings can affect behaviour in a negative way, the other reason was that Colin seemed to have a physical reaction to food colouring.
It has been hard to cut everything out but we are getting there and still discovering foods that surprise us… the boys are also getting used to it and know that it is not good for them. The battles are getting easier and are almost non-existent now. When Xavier shops with me he points out the foods that have colouring and asks me to check if others do.
Though it was a goal before it has forced me to go toward that whole food, non processed diet that I have been wanting and though there are still some things to work on I am feeling happier about our eating habits. There are however, still a few things that enter the house for us adults and yesterday one of those things confirmed one of the reasons that we avoid colouring…
Yesterday I made Sushi and while I was making it Colin was picking pieces of Tempura out of the bowl. I had finished making his so I had added some crumbled some honey snacks in the tempura (the sushi shop near me has sushi with it in and it is so good) and well, they have colouring….
Well, Colin must have gotten a little piece because he got hives all around his mouth and started coughing after…
There was nothing else that could have done it, and about an hour later the hives had gone… but now I am 100% sure that he has a real allergy to food colouring… and though we are really careful, we have to be even more… what he could have gotten was such a tiny piece… I don’t want to know what more could do…

on sunday Colin turned 3…
with Colin though this birthday feels a bit different.
l still have that feeling of wow! where does time go?! but then l also think “only 3?”
What an amazing kid he has become. Verbally he is so advanced, so much more than his brother at the same age and now his understanding has caught up with his vocabulary. He just acts and talks so much more older that is surprises me that he was only 2 and now that he is only 3… Maybe it is due to being a second child but whatever it is, I love that we can really have a conversation with him at such a young age.
He is such a fun kid. He make us laugh everyday.
He loves playing the role of someone else… he is often Harry Potter, a puppy, a girl (named Trishay) among others… he plays those roles so well and of course we need to play along….
He loves music and songs, he loves to play with cars, trains and has an amazing imagination.
What a cool kid!!
