keep on swimming…

Keep on swimming… keep on swimming… swimming.. swimming…

I have been trying to go swimming 2-3X a week and slowly it is becoming easier to actually get up after supper and go…

It is not far away… So to swim for the hour that is open…  I am gone from home from about 6:25 to 7:35… that works out to be right after supper while the kids are in the bath and gettin ready for bed… then when I come home I can nurse the little ones to sleep…

the first day I went I worked myself a bit too hard… I was sore before I left the pool… but now I go slowly and steadily and I am slowly building my endurance… by the end on an hour I end up doing about 25-30 laps… which may not be much but at least I am moving and I keep on moving…

What’s hard though is that swimming is a great excersise but you get really hungry when you are done… I really need to find some good snacks that will fill me up without just adding back all of the calories that I just burned off…

Last spring when I first started seriously cycling to/from work (and losing weight like crazy as a result) I found that a bagel or toast with marmite was a good snack for me. The carbs got my blood sugar back up (without spiking) and the saltiness of the marmite was welcome after all that sweating.

    thanks for the idea!

I have never tried Marmite… actually I have never even seen it… I have heard so many things about it though.

I just made a Miso paté the other day that I think is going to become a good snack and I think that it will become a staple here…

I just started swimming, as well, and I get ravenous afterwards, too! I have been working so hard at not eating after dinner, but not on swimming nights!

I usually eat granola and yogurt, tonight I had a little scrambled egg whites and cheese on half a bagel. Really, I just wish I could eat everything in the house! lol

I hear you… it is a type of ravenous that seems to just keep on going even after you eat… I have read it is because of the cold water and that swimming is not the best way to lose weight…

I just love being in the water though…

So funny! All those years of swimming and I don’t remember getting hungry but it’s a different story getting in the pool after spending years away. I like to pack an apple in the car because I need food right away and then something else when I get home. For evening swims I’m finding an extra 1/2 to 3/4 portion saved from dinner really hits the spot. Happy training!
