I couldn't believe that BabyWise stuff when I first read about it. I can't imagine doing that stuff to my children. Even when I knew next to nothing about baby care, I still had some instincts, and certainly human compassion for my baby. But, I've seen enough horrific parenting that it seems evident that some people actually don't see their babies as feeling creatures, but as little things that may cry for no reason. When I first began to read about AP, I thought, What's the big deal, doesn't everyone pretty much parent this way? How could they not? But, of course I was wrong.

I never thought of CIO being an abuse of power, but it really is, isn't it! I'm glad you all were there to teach her.
